ZUGFeRD

Updated: Feb 6

The new version of ZUGFeRD, ZUGFeRD2.1.1, is available with the XRechnung profile. The new profile meets the specific requirements of the public administration in Germany, as it also includes the requirements of EN16931 as well as the national business rules and administrative specific provisions of the XRechnung standard.

How can the XRechnungs profile be integrated into ZUGFeRD?

The ZUGFeRD specification refers to the specification of the XRechnung standard. This ensures the uncomplicated and error-free integration of XRechnung in ZUGFeRD. The individual requirements for the XML content of the XRechnung profile (CIUS XRechnung National Business Rules) are set by XRechnung committees outside the German Electronic Billing Forum (FeRD) and published by the IT Standards Coordination Office (KoSIT).

Hybrid or Fully Configured?

Hybrid files are basically created in ZUGFeRD as PDF / A-3 files with an embedded XML document. A visual component of technical XML constructs is therefore included in all ZUGFeRD profiles. Some government customer invoice entry portals (e.g. the federal central invoice entry platform and the OZG-compliant invoice entry platform) only accept fully structured XML invoice data. In order to ensure the successful delivery of a ZUGFeRD invoice in the XRechnung profile, ZUGFeRD enables the creation of an invoice without the associated PDF file. The fully structured XML invoice must then be sent to the portals.

Which syntax is supported?

Like all other ZUGFeRD profiles, the ZUGFeRD XRechnungs profile must be created in the cross-industry UN / CEFACT invoice syntax (CII). Along with UBL, CII is the syntax of EN16931, and public customers are required to receive and process it. In addition to ZUGFeRD, e-bills can also be sent to public administration portals in UBL syntax.
